  • Fantastic idea, needs a lot of work

    By bpladdict020 (Pcmac user)

I am a cello performance major, and when I came across this app I thought it was a genius idea. I downloaded it and found the concerto I am working on (Elgar) but I was disappointed to find that the solo part was a measure ahead the accompaniment throughout the majority of the piece. I was also saddened to find only 3 cello concertos (all of the movements were separate, maybe lump them together?) but I hope more are added with time. While I understand the need to entice casual musicians with fun arrangements of pieces like Clair de Lune and the Moonlight sonata, I think they should shift their focus to serious musicians because we will be the ones using this app the most religiously. For that to happen, there needs to be a lot more concertos and sonatas added. I honestly see this app becoming a popular practice tool, but for now a lot of work and a shift in focus is needed for it to get there.
  • The closest thing available to playing music with others

    By JapaneseTeacher (Pcmac user)

I play with an orchestra. There is nothing like that magic when we are all on the same wavelength and join tempos without saying a word. But when we use an accompaniment track, it is always dead, somehow. Until now. Having dynamic accompaniment through the app unlocked something in my playing. Especially being able to use it while alone in my room and with/without headphones, it allowed for experimentation and the ability to comfortably play at any dynamic. I discovered a whole new style for when I play the viola. This interplay between my playing and the app helped me internalize the music at lightning speed. I remember how it felt to play after I was done. I highly recommend this app for all classical musicians, period!
  • Very nice features. Limited repertoire. VERY pricey subscription.

By No Alias Desired. (Pcmac user)

I just opened this app and as both a software developer and professional musician, the features here look well thought out. The repertoire is fairly limited currently. Obviously that will expand. It would be nice to have an “upload MusicXML” feature or something so that you can perform with your OWN compositions. My prime issue with this is the price of the subscription model. The value here is quite nice, and perhaps comparable to a hyper-deluxe app like Babbel for learning foreign language. Which costs about a THIRD of what this one costs. Lower the subscription price to a dollar a week and add “upload MusicXML” (at least to local storage) and this could potentially be a five star app.
  • Keep Going!!

    By Lizardoyame (Pcmac user)

This app is everything my musical fiancé and I have been waiting for. Living in an apartment and isolated from a good group makes it hard to stay polished, and this app has given us hope. ^_^ A huge thanks to all of the people who worked on this app. The only thing keeping my rating under 5 stars is, like others have stated, the music is still a little limited. I’m not talking about having to use points to purchase new songs (with the quality of the app, I am happy to). I really want to see this app grow and keep expanding the repertoire of the instruments. Maybe it could even go a step further and allow us to record accompaniments for other users? The possibilities are endless, and the app seems to have struck gold. Many thanks!
