What is Samsung Family Hub? The Samsung Family Hub app is a mobile application that works with Family Hub refrigerators with TIZEN 4.0 Software version and below. For newer Samsung Family Hub refrigerators that operate on TIZEN 6.0 Software version and above, the Family Hub app will no longer be supported. Users are advised to download and use the SmartThings app instead.

Software Features and Description

1. For Samsung Family Hub refrigerators that operate on TIZEN 6.0 Software version and above, the Family Hub app will no longer be supported.

2. The Samsung Family Hub app now works only on Family Hub refrigerators with TIZEN 4.0 Software version and below.

3. For optional permissions, the default functionality of the service is turned on, but not allowed.

4. The following permissions are required for the app service.

5. Please download and use the SmartThings app instead.

To get started, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto "Playstore on PC" » click "Configure_Download" button. This will auto-download and install PlayStore on your computer.

- Login to the PlayStore we just installed

Samsung Family Hub functions

- Uploading pictures and videos can be found within the Family Hub device card

- Food-related features like View Inside, Recipe Recommendation, Meal Planner, Shopping List, and Food List can be found within the SmartThings Cooking Service

- Required Access Permission: Contacts - Registered Samsung Account information will be used to provide services that require account linking

- Optional Access Permission: Microphone - Needed to record voice for Memo and Whiteboard; Storage - Required to provide cloud-connected features for sharing photos and videos.

- Recent update (4.0) has resolved previous issues with logging in and UI

- Improved functionality and sync between features

- Integration with Alexa would be a great addition

- The app is necessary for using the features of the refrigerator

☹ Cons:

- Performance could still be improved

- App does not always update properly between the fridge and the app

- Annoying setting to change every time for adding food to the inside view

- Some users have experienced difficulty signing in and connecting to the server, despite having a good network connection.

Much Better Now!

The recent update to 4.0 is great. Previously, the app was practically unusable because I could not reliably log in and the UI was horrendous. All of these problems have been resolved and I am happy to be able to use and rely on the functions provided. I still wish there was more integration with Alexa so that I could, for example, ask Alexa to add an item to my shopping list. I hope the developer will continue to make this app better because the refrigerator is awesome and it deserves an awesome app.
Does not update

When the app works, it’s fine, but I am literally sitting here waiting to go to the store, trying to get my shopping list to match the one on the fridge, but it doesn’t. The app never updates to the fridge, and apparently it never updates from fridge to app either. Also, having to change the setting not to add my food to the inside view every single time is so annoying! Come on, the app... you can do better than this!
Used to work but doesn’t let me sign in anymore

The app used to work okay, but as of the last few days I can’t even sign in. I keep getting an error message. “Unable to connect to server. Check your network connection and try again” My network connection is perfectly fine. I even deleted and reinstalled the app 3 times along with resetting my phone. I have had no luck! Can we please get this fixed?!
More functional than previous version

Lots of improvement in functionality as the sync is working good in each feature. Still expecting some improvement in performance.
