Photo Cleaner for Pc

I own a few FipLab products. I've found almost all of their products useful and of good quality. It is important to remember that their products are mostly utilities, as opposed to full blown apps. My expectations of this app were that it would be along the lines of a product like SnapSelect (an app once made by Macphun, but is no longer available) which showed multiple similar images and allowed you to determine which you wanted to keep across multiple file types (including RAW) by enlarging, studying metadata and comparing. the app Clean is a utility for mostly snap shot photographers looking to reduce the number of images taken at the family gathering or the picnic or beach trip or adventure. If you are an advancing amateur or pro, this is **not** the app for you. Taking into account my overly high expectations, this app did not do a very good job of finding similar images. It often missed photos even when adjusting the sensitivity and it looks and works like a pre 1.0 app. I'd suggest holding off until they are able to refine their algorithms for recognizing similar images better and allowing you to see larger images. Also, from what I can tell, it seems that this app only handles jpg/jpeg files.

This program will find any similar pictures that you have... as long as they're over 1KB and the exact same size/shape. I had a situation where a lot of the duplicates I was looking to eliminate were smaller, thumbnail versions of the originals. These were still very obviously the same photos, they were just smaller and/or lower resolution. If that's the situation you're in, this program will not detect those files. Also, there's a weird bug in the current version (v1.4 as of writing) where it doesn't entirely delete photos if you have them on an external drive. It just gets rid of most of the data of the the app, but finder will still show that the image exists. Of course, because there's no data to the deleted files, you can't move them or delete them. You can only delete whatever folder they're in with them in it.

It crashed with a spinning wheel after I scanned and started selecting pics to remove. Never recovered. Nice idea if it worked. Also, the menus have screwed up key equivalents.

First, let me say that I own a bunch of FipLab’s App’s. I use them often. They are great. That’s why I bought this app and am the first to review. I am dissappointed to report that this app DOES NOT WORK. The matches it made of the app’s were not even close. When the matching algorithm is improved, I will review again. Until then, it will sit dormant. Let me reiterate though, FipLabs track record with me provides hope. I sure hope they don’t let me down.
