Software Features and Description

1. Mentor is the only driving app providing a closed loop approach that goes beyond just scoring to focus on improving your performance and measurably reducing your risk of collision behind the wheel.

2. The driving score, developed by FICO™, is generated after each trip and over time using factors like speeding, phone use, hard braking, and sudden acceleration.

3. Our methodologies and approach to driver engagement have been proven (and validated!) to reduce collisions by helping drivers be better in control of themselves behind the wheel.

4. Mentor by eDriving for Business is our latest and most powerful approach in addressing the 94% problem: 94% of collisions are caused by driver behavior and attitude.

5. Want to know exactly how good a driver you are? Improve your safety on the road by measuring and scoring your actual driving behaviors.

6. Short, interactive content will be prescribed to you in your playlist for you to take right on your phone while you are waiting for a meeting, in an airport or any time you have a few minutes to spare.

7. Receive a score after every trip with key insights about where you had to use the brake too hard, drove too fast, or used your phone.

8. Receive in-app tips and coaching to improve your driving.

9. Compare results with colleagues to earn bragging rights at the office water cooler… or know exactly what you need to get there.

10. The app draws on eDriving’s 20 years of experience training millions of drivers around the world.

11. It’s all measured using your phone’s GPS, gyroscope and other internal sensors.

I’m required to use this for work. I do understand where the app can work and has its purpose. It does make you slow down and that’s a positive thing. Now for the bad. It’s nearly impossible to get a driving score and keep it there. I usually have between 780 and 810. That ranks me well over my organization’s average score and top 10% of users are at 817. The thing that bother me most is the breaking. Why am I being punished for having to hit the brake to avoid an accident? I drove 2500 miles last month and had 2 hard breaking issues all month. I had a coaching session on my 2 hard braking. I’m well above the company average and this tool is used to punish you. I save the company costly repairs and save myself from an injury and because I hit the brake to save a life and money I get dinged. We should not be punished for saving lives and damage to company property. The hard braking needs to be an average of driving vs braking. I know there’s drivers out there that hit the gas to the floor and stomp on the brake consistently. I get that causes damage to the car and is a careless driver. I’m not one of them. We have enough stress at work then to be coached for hard braking saving company property and possible lives. I spend a lot of time on the highway. A semi truck came over on me. I had to hit the brake or get hit. Your app punished me for that. Thanks a lot for the coaching from management. I really appreciate your flawed system.

First of all I can understand why there were so many negative reviews for this app – Its is hard to accept that you are a BAD DRIVER!!!! And when you are presented with solid proof, you start to question the accuracy of the software. Sure, it had few issues related to speeding, phone manipulation etc. (who doesn’t??) but I have witnessed the improvement over time. We have tried other similar apps in the market and believe me when I say – this is the BEST one out there to keep your drivers safe on the road. the app’s call in – call out detection is spot on. I know when my drivers make a call when they are not supposed to. Update 2.35 has new speeding data provider – which hopefully brings us better speed limit data. One has to be on the program for some time to see positive change. Give it some time – you’ll be surprised. I have been on the app since their early pilot days in 2017. I have seen it EVOLVED from just “another app” to a POWERFUL TOOL that actually helps make a positive change to driving habits. Keeps my drivers safe. TRY IT FOR YOUR SELF – and give it sometime.
  • App needs work.

    By JRCamp100 (Pcmac user)

My company placed all drivers of company vehicles on this app. The scoring isn’t accurate. I travel for work and use Uber when I’m out of town vs renting a car. During those weeks I categorize all of my rides with Uber as “passenger”. My score shouldn’t go up or down as I am not driving. But of course my score takes a hit over the course of the week. I like the videos and awareness but the algorithms used to calculate the score need work. It’s frustrating when your impacted by events when your not driving but a passenger.
  • Better Driving; Needs Improvement

    By AlohaHawkeyes (Pcmac user)

My company has required this app on all company phones for those driving a company vehicle. I believe the app is useful in helping a person become more aware of their driving habits and trying to improve driving safety. However, I agree with previous reviewers, there isn’t a lot of explanation on why a score is what it is. I’ve honestly driven with a friend that was going 10-15mph over posted speed limits with hard stops and fast goes, and her score was a “good”. I’ve had drives myself where I went 4-5mph over and got an “Average” with no other events. People in the same car with the app on their phone can have wildly different scores after a trip 3 of us recently in a company vehicle all not touching our phones received a Great, Good and Average score all in the same car on the same app and version.
