  • Really Nice Unique Survival Game

    By Drawgood (Pcmac user)

I really don’t understand the complaint in one of the reviews that the game is “too random”. That is the purpose of the game. You make choices every step to increase your chances against random events. I am really enjoying this app. The gameplay really does feel like a survival or a roguelike game where you’re not supposed to necessarily win even if you make good decisions every turn. The event cards create a pretty nice diverse gameplay every time you play. Three resources create many combinations for cards to buy within every attempt. I also enjoy the art style that looks like someone has drawn by hand on paper as opposed to creating it entirely on computer. I don’t know whether it’s actually the case but it looks nice. Also the audio is very impressive.
  • Very difficult, very random

    By Larry Chambers (Pcmac user)

First, the game is almost unplayable on an iPhone because of its small size. The graphics are simply scaled down from the desktop version, and are so small that buttons are very difficult to press and none of the text is readable. I was only able to play because I am familiar with the desktop version of the game. Second, the game is unfairly difficult and ridiculously random. Very often you need to so a random search to acquire resources, and far too often you either get nothing of value in return or your character dies. It's incredibly frustrating to try to build up resources and come up empty handed. The "easy" difficultly level is insanely difficult. To win you need to perfectly manage your resources and have great luck on your side. This game could be good if it was made much less difficult and had random events be beneficial more often. As it is, it's an incredibly frustrating experience.
  • Simple Elegance

    By bookemdano92 (Pcmac user)

When the developer said this was made with love they meant it. Flawless execution, quirky art style that lets your imagination do the rest, and a simple game mechanic make this a refreshing break from the norm out there. The presentation is also so clean. Do not listen to those who say it is too hard and random. I won my first time through on easy. The randomness is the whole reason there is replay ability. Now I’m on the custom setup for my first time through. I have been looking for something like this for awhile now. I love hybrid-style RPGs where you are not having to make 15 small decisions for one larger decision. It’s nice to be able to not break the flow and keep the “suspension of disbelief” going.
  • Great game hindered by less than stellar mobile

    By OSBastard (Pcmac user)

The card game itself is great. However there are a number of issues I suspect are at least somewhat mobile specific. It is incredibly finicky to zoom in on a card without playing it, triggering secondary behaviors is not always perfect, and it’s hard to tell what some cards do because there’s no explanatory text. My biggest complaint might be that there is no cloud backup of your progress, so if you delete the app you’ve lost everything if you reinstall.
