Can't move up

This game is great graphics....But the control to move, on the left, button is hard to move back fast. And I completed the first kill three times, unable to move to next animal or upgrade weapon. I push the thumbs up and noting happens. And there is no help menu to get around.
I can't switch guns!!!?!?!!

It won't let me change guns what do you press I've complete most levels with the wimpy pistol!
