  • Please Fix Bugs in Most Recent Update

    By AnnaW94 (Pcmac user)

I have never left a review for an app before now. First, thank you for all of the aid your organization gives to those of us who suffer from the app disabilities. Your app truly helps. That being said, the most recent update has made the app very difficult to use. Every time I download a book that should take mere MBs, the app storage increases by 15 to 20 GB. If I delete the book, the storage is still filled up so I end up having to delete the entire app and start over to download a new book. This was never an issue until the most recent update. Also, the app is glitching. It freezes or has a delayed response when I interact with the user interface. Another issue that I am now experiencing is that the audio playback stops every few minutes, and sometimes the app will even log me out mid-reading. I now have to re-log in on average three times for every hour of listening. Please fix the bugs! The app worked perfectly before. I will definitely change the rating to 5-star if the glitches are fixed!
  • Frustrated! Longtime Learning Ally User

    By Bobby'05 (Pcmac user)

I have used the app Ally for the last 10 or so years and have been a huge proponent of it with my dyslexia students at school. However, the new the app ally app that was released a few ago, for iPhone, is pathetic. It does not remember your place in the book, which I’ve tried to address with the company, every time the phone screen is locked, there are constant interruptions. I’m not satisfied with the company’s response. Everyone on the phone is nice and respectful but they offer no hope for fixing the issues. This is a problem with the software developers. My recommendation is new developers. Sorry but sincere. I’ve just deleted the app from my device for the first time in years. Please fix this. It’s sad for me to share these problems with my students, fellow teachers and parents. Many depend on this historic app.
  • Thank you for the wonderful service!

    By JLStubb (Pcmac user)

Thank you to everyone that has put together the app Ally. Never apologize for anything (dyslexia/mass email) to anyone ungrateful for the thoughtful gesture. This is really helping me get through school. I only have 2 problems with it though. 1. Playback stops every 5 pages (about) 2. The readers sometimes pronounce character names differently and it’s distracting. I think if multiple people are going to read they should agree on how to pronounce everything. I’m less than 100 pages into a book I have to read for school and I’m distracted because I’ve had to listen to 4-5 different pronunciations of the same character’s name (this is an essential character too) and sometimes the reader(s) mispronounces other common words.
  • Lots of bugs on iOS

    By Wadagascar (Pcmac user)

I love that I am able to listen to many of my textbooks on this app. However, lately there have been so many bugs as to make the app functionally useless for me. The app stops playing as soon as the screen goes black when not in use. So, I need to constantly tap the screen so as to keep it from stopping playing, which is not always possible if I’m trying to listen while doing anything other than staring at my phone. Also, every time my phone tilts sideways it restarts the audiobook from The very beginning and I have to go back through to select the page I was on, and restart from the beginning of that page. Sometimes it also takes several times of alternating play/pause before the audiobook starts. I want to love this app, and I appreciate the thought behind it, but it has been more frustration lately than it is helpful.
