The Central Weather Bureau has developed the Quantitative Precipitation Estimation and Segregation Using Multiple Sensor (QPESUMS) system to enhance the monitoring and short-term forecasting capabilities of severe weather. The system integrates multiple observation data such as weather radar and rainfall stations, as well as geographical information to produce real-time monitoring information on severe weather for government disaster prevention and relief units and the public. In 2014, a mobile version was developed to provide more convenient access to real-time weather information.
