  • Love This Game

Update: Okay, so I turned my game on today and it has now become Autumn! Guess I just wasn’t being patient enough on the seasons. Yay!!! Original Post: I absolutely love this game - I’ve literally been playing nonstop since yesterday lol. I love the fact that weather impacts the gameplay (makes it more realistic) but I have noticed that my game doesn’t seem to advance through the seasons for some reason. I believe it’s a glitch. I’m on level 11 and it’s been summer/rainy the entire time (my stats even say that I’ve progressed through 0 seasons.) When I played last year, there were varying seasons with Autumn and snowy Winter as time progressed. I know I could probably delete and reload the game to fix it, but it’s not worth losing the progress I’ve achieved so I’ll just live with it. I really have no other complaints - this game has great graphics and engaging tasks to complete. It would be nice if there were female villagers who could mate and produce babies, but that’s probably a little too in depth for a freebie game.
  • Free, yes - but far too much “pay to play”

I was super interested in this game initially, but the upgrades and building and other basic tasks take way too long to complete to make it as fun as it could be. Example: I’ve only been playing for a few hours total (started sometime yesterday) and I already maxed out on how many settlers I can have (10), but have to wait 4 ENTIRE DAYS for 1 settler to upgrade the community shelter so I can add more. Meanwhile, 5 more settlers are off on an expedition which will take another four days for them to return. That leaves me with 4 settlers to work with; I decided to have one chop down part of the forest so I could reorganize the camp, but that’ll take over 24 hours, and the other 3 settlers can barely keep everything else in working order (storms keep damaging everything and repairs take 1+ hours). I’m finding myself opening the game to just check on the progress and then going into play something else. Only way to keep advancing at a decent playable pace is to pay real $ to speed up the completion of tasks which will just lead to more tasks that take several hours to several days to complete (or pay more $ to speed up and so on and so on).
  • It’s not bad, just needs some tweaking.

Most people complain about the storms, those people are the instant-gratification types who want to spend hours in the same app until they’re bored or frustrated, so ignore all that. The storms are a welcomed impediment for me compared to the fact that I’ve made the game more challenging because I’m trying to play it without killing animals, only relying on fish to feed the minimal masses. The difficulty with this strategy is that these people (the colonists in your this app) end up requesting a lot of mammal meat, so earning coins becomes tricky. I just save up my Nubucks and buy them when need be. I am only roughly 2 weeks in, and I’ve only spent my bucks on coins to upgrade things without killing bunnies, pheasants, chickens, goats, etc., and to speed repairs to my carpenter’s hut after an unfortunately timed storm. In summary, if I can remain interested whilst playing in my own way that is bound to take more time, then you can surely see fit to come round often enough to keep yourself entertained. Side note: I only found this game whilst researching apps for my upcoming trip to Scotland, and I’ve no regrets yet. Enjoy!
  • Could be so much better...

    By Gaming bunch (Pcmac user)

I have been playing for about a month. The weather comes through and destroys a couple of things, before I can rebuild them, another storm comes through and destroys more things. All I do is rebuild. Makes the game really boring. More available people before the huge wait for an upgrade would help. The time to build or rebuild is forever. If you don’t use everyone in camp to complete a job, the time to complete an expedition or an event is way too long. If I send 10 people on an expedition, there is no one to play with and camp moral drops way down. When they come back they have to spend days cleaning up the camp before play can start again. If this is supposed to be fun you really missed your mark. I lost interest already. I enjoy a game you can interact with regularly and see an accomplishment. Maybe I will check back if an update happens that improves the gameplay.
