On my 5th(?) new char

But I really wanted to have just the one (that I chose initially.) I love these games. I always have. But there are some very odd bugs afoot here. One of my chars was level 15ish, another closer to 20. It doesn’t bode well that this time, when I was prompted to rate the app, I had just seen the “BUTTON” button on the startup screen and not “START” as it displays when it runs normally. I hope the cloud cooperates and returns my current level 6 lady. I want to give you all the stars. I’m sorry. Update: Lost another. The cloud initially did cooperate, as I was hoping earlier, and I continued till level 13 or so as an earth mage and was enjoying myself. Then just now I turns on the app and my character was wiped again. You can’t get a previous save state from the cloud until after the tutorial battle, and sometimes (not all of the time) data gets automatically saved to the cloud after that first battle. So that happen. This time, though, it restored my patron status and did NOT restore the recommended starter pack, with the gold to get more inventory, a lot of crafting mats, and 100 gems. Nope. Those were gone. As have been the other, smaller purchases I made, 2.99 here and there. I was willing to forgive and forget those 2.99ers if the game shaped up. But it hasn’t. And I won’t. I’m very frustrated and angry right now.

The art is both beautiful and highly amusing. I felt at sea at first with the broad, open-ended customizations, but as I played, I gradually identified my weak points and began making reactive improvements. Eventually, I got a sense of the depth of the game, identified a few clever tactics, bolstered their effectiveness, and fell in love. It probably has the best implementation of a board manipulation mechanic in the genre. In a couple of the Puzzle Quest titles, there’s this brief period where board manipulation spells give you a nifty tactical lever, before the rapidly degenerating into pure silliness two levels later. I’ve long sought a title that did board manipulation right, and I found that here. It lacks the adventure elements of its predecessor, but it’s a great title.

Very nice pick 3. I like that you don’t have to pay to win. You can pay nothing, buy a few things here and there, watch advertisements for loot, or, my personal favorite, just make a one time payment and just have a traditional game. I also like supporting indie developers like this. They’ve poured their hearts into this and it really shows.
