What happened to the old version of the controls

This used to be so awesome but they've messed with the controls making it a lot more difficult. In the past, you could take your thumb/finger off the screen and put it back on without impacting the speed of the 'the app'. Now when you retouch the screen, the the app comes to an abrupt halt making it easy to be eaten. Please bring back the old version. That was a 5-star game.
