1. Traditionally, Blackout (Aka Erasure) Poetry consists of selecting words from a block of text, erasing the rest to carve out a whole new or hidden meaning.
2. All you need: A block of text from the web, a keen eye to spot and link words & an iPhone or iPad.
3. Using the app, select words from existing text from the web, connect them.
4. Highlight current events, give voice to social causes, find hidden meanings, inspire new thoughts.
5. Share your creations on social media or optionally prune them using your favourite editing tools.
6. Any kind of text as source can be used - news articles, passages from novels, even shopping lists.
7. There's no particular technique though the fun happens when you create something new as opposed to just skimming words.
8. And no - you do not have to be a writer nor a poet to create blackout poetry.
9. Choose from a set of carefully themed templates as the backdrop for your writing.
10. Users have created small poems, haikus, etc with this.
11. Style and export to the image gallery.
