False alerts
The gps system gives false alerts saying the pet has exited or entered the virtual fence while the pet is inside. This is a problem when you’re away from home and receive alerts that your pet has gotten lose. Why use a gps tracker if it gives off false alerts?
This is really disappointing due to the cost of the device and the monthly service!!!

It’s great but there’s room for improvement
I’ve been using a tracker for one of my cats for a month now and it works fine for the most part. The design and materials used for the collar are sturdy enough although wigs other similar objects can scratch it easily. I have two issues the first being location history and overall accuracy. Now I understand this could be dependent on the country and location but sometimes there are spots on the heatmap that are way off not just a few meters but like the other side of the city. I know there’s no way my cat had been there since he doesn’t even leave the street he rarely wanders and the next minute it shows he’s back in the garden. Maybe the connection is weak or the tower has issues but fortunately real time tracking works fine.
The other problem I had is the fact that I already had to ask for a replacement tracker. Unfortunately the collar or my cat got caught in something and instead of breaking away at the breakaway strip it came apart between the battery and the tracker so of course I couldn’t find it even though I spent half a day searching the last known location. So yes it does what it says and I like the activity monitoring feature but there definitely things that could be worked on.

Very lightweight system
The software essentially does what it says on the can and more or less works but could be made so much better by some better QA and some modern features. For instance the history searches are not user definable or even really sticky. It does hold on to last search config if you leave the screen screen. It keeps defaulting to 24 hours history. Would be far better to allow the user to define what periods they like and what periods of sampling time in a parameters setting. As a matter of fact the “Settings” are quite trivial in terms of configuring the system. If being able to put your animals demographics and pictures are considered advanced, many users are going to be very disappointed when it comes to configuring the actual systems operational behaviour to their own likes, unless, of course you consider being able to configure “units of measure” eg kg vs lbs etc as being an advanced user interface.
The user interface is TOO basic. I mean there is “Basic” and then there is “So Little” as to be autocratic in design, kind of like the Henry Ford approach, which I believe went along the lines of of “you can have any colour you like so long as it is blue”. This is not the stuff of how modern intuitive software interfaces with its users. Neither should it be.
Message Dialogue screens cover other parts of the screen design making them unreadable and or unusable. For instance the history dialogue covers part of the compass in iOS. On that note the compass only dynamically orients “some times”. Poor design here.
It would be nice to be able to see the system in different modes, eg map, satellite, latitude/ longitude. Really pretty standard expectations, and especially as it is probably only a call to the underlying mapping software to do it automatically anyway, in my opinion. Sure it’s easier to navigate in built up city locations because you can more readily identify landmarks such as roads, street names and other locations. If, however, you live in more rural locations, you get to see one full screen of “blank” canvass devoid of landmarks which makes it difficult to estimate distances or locations, which do not display anyway (which it should), that the animal is how far from you or route distances, or even a maximum distance from home base.
Of course by the time you zoom out enough it becomes relatively meaningless in rural areas and on the contrary if you zoom in enough you can no longer see your home base on the screen, which certain brings a new meaning to the term relativity. Anyway, the compass appears to be frozen so you have to exercise some pretty good imaginative guesses here. Even a basic grid would help. All in all, in my humble opinion, very trivial stuff for a so called tracking system.
Be nice to be able to display GPS co-ordinates as well as zoomable screen display. On my system my “home” location on the screen is not where I am physically located relative to the road I live on. Actually the road itself is highly inaccurate in terms of display eg it is 1.4 km long, straight, South to North dead end road. However the road display inexplicably shows a 90 degree turn before it gets to my house and joins a parallel road 3-4 hundred meters away! To be fair, this is probably the Mapping software you use, but your charging people for this service and you should be using systems that “fit for purpose”
The clip that attach the hardware device seems to be an extremely poorly designed attempt at fastening. I don’t expect my dog to come home with it very often. Especially if they are going through ringlock fencing (about as standard as fencing gets here in Aus.)which is sure to snatch the device off the collar. If nothing else, perhaps a safety chain. If you have daughters or wives they will know all about safety chains for their jewellery.
The battery seems to have much decreased life than that suggested in the literature. Further, Using the “Live” tracking function seems to diminish battery life rapidly in my experience. My first attempt at using this, my dog was active for about three or four minutes before the device lost contact and did not regain it for at least 17 minutes. At which time she turned up at my side, whilst the system was still indicating she was some hundred of metres away. Scotty must have beamed her up! Your “Tool Tips”, the one that I could see, are not very helpful at describing what distance is being measured and what the times indicate, I mean, really guys, this is the best you can do for a supposedly professional product? During this time whilst I had been trying to locate her using the Live tracking function. At some time during this, let’s say, approx 30 minute period after the system was in use I received a “Low” battery warning. Don’t know it knew, if the dog was last contactable 17 minutes ago. Magic?
More attention should be given to advising users that the 3G cell system that is used to report back the animals locations may be only marginal or non existent in your location. You will find this out AFTER you have purchased, subscribed and paid for all of this. Let’s face it 3G is an old technology, still usable for sure, but most cell phone carriers use and supply 4G as a minimum and we are looking at 5G within the foreseeable future.
I could go on, but I am sure most of you have nodded off by now. 😉. However, I paid good money for this system. By the time I bought the device, the premium subscription, care package, etc, et al, it becomes quite pricey. The registration process which extracts these feature extras carefully navigates you through the process with no obvious back button and locks you in to paying before you can test the system, or at least not that I could readily or obviously see. To me this seems to be an excellent marketing company, an advanced modern reliable and intuitive software design company, not so much.
I do not expect any real response other than platitudes and “contact us” which is in itself mediocre
