Top Pcmac Reviews

  • Good for tourists

    By MasterMatrix8 (Pcmac user)

Tried it out for 2 minutes and already saw flaws in the Chinese. Some tones are wrong or mislabeled in some phrases, although this will not really pose a major issue for someone just trying to be able to get around China, they might be the cause of some criticism if you're being taught to have perfect pronunciation.
  • Misses some key things

    By FreneticBlue (Pcmac user)

Overall reasonably impressed with the interface. However even after paying for the full 'Travel Essentials' phrasebook ($1.99) -I can say 'I'm 13 years old' (I'm 43), but still can't get essentials such as 'yes', 'no', 'please' and 'thank-you' and numbers (other than 13) 'Hello' 'Goodbye'... I'd say those would be travel essentials -wouldn't you?
  • Not Happy

    By Wymondy (Pcmac user)

Purchased the full version and have no audio.
  • Good value, has potential, but still needs a little work

    By JC-Shanghai (Pcmac user)

This app is a great introduction to Mandarin Chinese, and it has the potential to be a great learning tool. The initial in-app purchasing problem I had with the "Travel Essentials" phrase book seems to have been rectified, and I've successfully put it on both the app iPad and the app iPhone. In each of the categories, the "search" field should stay at the top of the screen - the interface still needs some work. The travel destinations included in the pack focus heavily on Beijing. I live in Shanghai, so this doesn't really work for me. It's great to see that the app is attempting to offer yet another phrase book, but I can't even get the details of the "Entertainment in China" phrase book to load. I'm being critical about this app because I'd like to see it work really well, and I'd love to buy more phrase books.
