What is Magic War Legends? The app is a turn-based strategy game where players collect heroes, upgrade units, and explore new worlds. Players can duel other players in epic battles and fight against fantasy world factions such as dungeon creatures like dragons, necromancers, mages, and minotaurs. The game also features epic dungeons, collecting cards, chests, and spells, and three different campaigns.

Now What?

I love this game because it is sooo close! But about 20% is missing to make me play this game daily and forever :). Mainly what is missing is Castles and Bases to build and a Story Mode or Scenario Mode with new worlds to explore. As one who has played all of the Heroes of Might and the app series several times, I have to leave this review for the other players out there like me who loved the Heroes of Might and the app series. I conquered all 11 territories on the world map and now there is literally nothing to do. 1) Your army is homeless so there’s no base for them, they come from randomized chests. 2) You have no home, there’s no castle or civilization to help build them up or train them, replenish troops, or customize your armies. 3) Due to these lacks, the game literally can last less than a week. Then all it becomes is watching mindless randomized videos of apps to download so you can continue to replenish your troops. Adding castles and home bases and a “scenario mode” or “story mode” just like the original series would complete this app. Otherwise, sorry it doesn’t last. Thanks for trying though.
Ok but too casual

Tries to be like Heroes of Might and the app, but there are key differences that keep it from really being a good game. The main one is that any units you lose in a battle are automatically regained over a short period of time (seconds to minutes). So there's never any risk of doing a fight. Second, there are no enemy heroes, no castles to capture that give you more skills and units, in fact no unit generators at all (since you don't permanently lose units they're not necessary), and no story. So there's no real incentive to play other than collecting more units and heroes and upgrading them (and your hero). The art and sounds are fine, though nothing amazing. Combat is pretty similar to HoMaM at least, which is the highlight of the game. There is map exploration, but it's mostly linear - it's really just to go from one fight and treasure to the next. There's one bug I've found too - the videos to watch to give you free resources and units don't work about 1/3 of the time - you watch the video but don't get the reward. So you have to watch another to get the reward. 😒
Decent game

This is very similar to the computer game Heroes of might and the app, with some of the troops, attacking strategies, the app spells, etc. since it is so similar why not update the game to be the iOS version of that game. After all Heroes of the app and the app lll is by far the best version that was created and I still play it today. The later versions were not as good. This game has potential to be great. If the developers don’t want to make it amazing as it has the potential to truly be, then at least get rid of the chest wait time and gems. Creating a decent game just to try and get money from customers is not the way to go. Spend the time and create an amazing game that people will pay a flat fee to have all the bells and whistles. If this was the iOS version of heroes of might and the app ll or lll I would gladly pay $20 for it. But I won’t spend a cent on this game as it’s not ready yet but it has potential. Update: I just uninstalled the game after playing it for about an hour and won’t play it again unless they make the necessary updates.
I want to love this game

I want to give this game 5 stars. I was and am a lover of HOMM. Seeing this game gave me hope of being able to play it on the go. The good points: the combat is very similar to the HOMM games. Exploring is similar, just no days or weeks now. The bad points: well I thought the people complaining about ads were exaggerated. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Even if you spend money on the gems there are still times when you will still be watching ads. If you are in the group that won’t or can’t spend money, you will spend more time on ads than playing the game. As for game play, you don’t get to develop castles like in HOMM. So overall, close to HOMM but not quite the same. Be prepared to watch a lot of ads and spending time waiting to be able to build up your army, or spend a crap ton of money.
