Fun but hit a roadblock and out of stars

Fun game and a little different than others in this genre. The issue is once you can’t pass a level you have to level up your heroes to continue playing. The problem becomes the inability to purchase stars. I have mine leveled to 30-31, I can’t continue to play because my heroes aren’t strong enough. To get stars either you win by passing levels in story or portal or they slowly accumulate under rewards. I have a break and would love to play but can’t - game doesn’t allow purchase of sufficient stars nor can you trade to get more at a sufficient level to make a difference. (I need 3600 for one level and to buy is 0.99 for 120 stars) In Hawkins store you can trade for up to 65 which is drop in the bucket, no more. I don’t like pay to play games but this one doesn’t even give that ability (which is fortunate I guess) . Aside from the constant stalling waiting on stars- really enjoyable to play.

Literally the only reason to play is if you really enjoy the this app theming and character collection. The actual gameplay is unfun and clunky. There is no way to replay previous levels, enemy strength increases way faster than you can level your team, you get no rewards for losing, there is no other way to gain materials other than waiting for a reserve to build up in real time, there is a frustrating lack of good healing abilities. Making matches doesn’t even feel satisfying and I’m not sure if I can figure out why. The visuals are unappealing and uninspired. I know the game just came out, it’s possible there will be improvements. But it’s also a mobile game based on a Netflix ip. I can’t imagine there’ll be any total overhauls after release. There are other this app games out there if you look. This may be the most accessible, and perhaps the only gacha one, (we don’t even need to get into why this is a reason not to play haha) but almost any other will provide a more enjoyable experience.

Ok so in Dead By Daylight, a 4 vs 1 horror multiplayer game, you can play as Nancy, Steve, and for an extra cost, Jonathan. You can also play as the Demogorgon. On top of all of that, you can play in Hawkins Lab, a map that is very faithful to the show. That map is easily the best video game representation this app has right now. You get to explore one of the most important places from the show. It doesn’t play great in DBD, but as a big fan of this app, it’s awesome. And it’s getting replaced by a Candy Crush reskin and eventually an SNES-style beat-em-up game? I respect the effort put into these games and I’m sure that the developers are not at fault for the loss of a great form of fanservice. This is to the Netflix execs. There is no reason why these things cannot coexist. You are losing more than you are gaining, and your fans are not happy. This is disappointing and I’m sorry to the people who made this game because it will face a lot of backlash due to Netflix revoking the license of this app from BHVR.
Fun for a while but could be great

I like a lot of things about this game. The combat is fun and reminds me a lot of Ironcast which is my favorite match 3 game. What I hate is the gacha mechanics that plague mobile games this one included. I get why they do it but I refuse to support this nonsense. Make this a $5-10 game without all of the timed/$$ gated stuff and I would buy it. Aside from that the two things that would make the game a lot better are 1.) the ability to mute the music but still have sounds 2.) Make the portal mode the main game mode and don’t time gate it. It makes for a very fun rogue like experience and is much more fun than the main game modes. There is a lot of of potential here and the theme is enjoyable. The art and animations are a bit suspect at times but not too bad. Straight up gameplay of the actual battles is enough to keep it installed for now but once I hit the gacha wall I will be out.
