What is Sync?

Sync is a file transfer app that offers full sync, backup, and restore features. It allows users to transfer files between local and cloud storage units. The app supports various cloud storage services such as Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Amazon S3, etc.

Software Features and Description

1. A 'source' is a local drive that provides files or data to be uploaded to other drives or receives files downloaded from other drives.

2. A 'drive' is a local storage unit or a cloud storage service where files and data can be stored, e.g. Disk drive, Dropbox, Box, Microsoft OneDrive, Google Drive, Amazon S3, etc.

3. A 'task' is a collection of sources with a target drive, through which a sync, backup or restore operation can be performed.

4. * FILE MANAGER: list and browse files and folders on a drive, upload or download files to and from a drive, delete/rename files and folders on a drive.

5. add a destination drive and then select a destination folder on the drive where the data will be uploaded to or downloaded from.

6. File transfers are performed in tasks and you can create as many tasks for any drive, and with as many sources as you prefer.

7. Sync is a file transfer app with full sync, backup and restore features.

8. add a list of sources that point to the data you want to backup or restore.

9. * Secondary, removable and cloud storage drives are available via in app purchase at the Sync Shop.

10. For files, this will be the folder containing the files.

Download and install the Sync - Backup and Restore app on your Windows 10,8,7 or Mac in 4 simple steps below:

Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac:

Download the Amazon-Appstore » (U.S only)
- Click on "Get" to begin installation. It also automatically installs Windows Subsystem for Android.
- After installation, Goto Windows Start Menu or Apps list » Open the Amazon Appstore » Login (with Amazon account)

For non-U.S users, Download the OpenPC software »
- Upon installation, open OpenPC app » goto Playstore on PC » click Configure_Download. This will auto-download Google Play Store on your Windows 11.

Installing Sync:
- Login to your computer's PlayStore or Amazon AppStore.
- Search for "Sync" » Click "Install" to install Sync - Backup and Restore
- Sync - Backup and Restore will now be available on your windows start-menu.

Sync - Backup and Restore functions

- Full Sync: compares and synchronizes files at two locations, deleted files in one location are deleted at the other, while new files at one location are uploaded to the other.

- Backup Sync: upload changed files from sources to the destination drive.

- Restore Sync: download changed files on a drive to target sources.

- File Manager: list and browse files and folders on a drive, upload or download files to and from a drive, delete/rename files and folders on a drive.

- Multiple Tasks: create as many tasks for any drive, and with as many sources as you prefer.

- Source Path: each source in a task can have a 'path' where a source's files are uploaded to during a backup or downloaded from during restore.

- Web Server: serves local files and folders over HTTP 1.0. Supports selectable files and folders, folder listing, auto serve index.html, custom document root, partial content, and auto start on launch.

- In-app purchases: secondary, removable, and cloud storage drives are available via in-app purchase at the Sync Shop.

- Automatic and background sync are not yet supported.

- Network drives are not yet supported.

- App has a good interface and looks promising for syncing files.

- Can sync files to external drives.

☹ Cons:

- Does not recognize hard-wired drives as permanent, considering all external drives as "removable".

- Requires in-app purchase to provide any functionality at all.

- App is not clear upfront about not being free.

- No demo available to see if it fits your needs.

- No scheduling feature or if there is, it's not intuitive and can't be found.

- Users may need to pay for an additional app to complete what they need to sync onto.

App looks like it is good but to do anything you have to purchase another app to complete what you need to this app onto. For instance, I want to this app my photos to an external drive. In order to do that I need to pay $1.99 for the additional app to do what I want to do with this app. So, it is SAD that they did not sell you an app for $5.00 that does it all instead of downloading to find they want more money. I am not even guaranteed that it will do what I want after I purchase it. Here goes……WELL I AM BACK. THIS IS WORSE THAN I THOUGHT, IT MAY WORK BUT I SURE CANT GET IT UP AND SYNCING ANYTHING. I paid the extra money and I’m right where I was at before I paid it. Now I will say that I am used to Windows that seems to work more logically than Mac BUT I thought the whole point behind Mac was that anyone could use it. Disappointed!
Misleading - not really free

You download the app for free but if you want to this app something like Google Drive, you gotta pay. I don't mind having to pay. They worked to create the software but they should be very clear upfront about it not really being free. Its a little misleading. It should say it in the very first line where they tell you what you can connect to. That's the problem I have with this.

To back up to another drive you have to buy. No demo available to see if it fits your needs. No scheduling. If there is, it's not intuitive can't be found. Will ask Apple for refund.
