  • Looks good, great concept, but constant crashes

    By Johnny B10225 (Pcmac user)

I want to like this app because it would be very helpful for keeping all of my data, links, notes, etc organized. However, every time I try to add a file (a pdf from safari) the app crashes and the file is not saved. This has also happened several times when trying to add a web page (not for offline viewing) but I was eventually able to get it to work. I am also concerned about what happens to my data if my subscription is accidentally cancelled (issue with my card on file with iTunes which happens often for some reason) or if I decide to try a different app/service. Will there be a way to export my data from this app or will it just be lost? In the end, it seems like a simplified version of DEVONThink. I am looking for an alternative because lately I’ve had issues with DEVONthinks sync stores (tells me I entered the incorrect encryption key, but I have checked multiple times and there is zero chance I am entering the incorrect key). DEVONThink has a ton more “features” than this app, but many of them are overkill for my use case. I just want to have one place to organize all of my documents, files, notes, websites, etc that allows me to easily find what I need regardless of which device I am using. If this app can fix the crash issues I will give it a shot. Until then, the search continues.
  • Fantastic

This one checks all the boxes for me. I wanted a nice, non-Evernote Evernote. Love that this doesn’t focus on markdown (though it’s an option) and I can save almost any kind of file I would ever want to. It’s like Apple Notes on overdrive in a way. Feature request: It would be cool to have a dedicated document scanner built in. Not only would those be nicely formatted documents but usually the result is lower file size versus me just taking a picture of a document myself. this app Up! 😁Great application.
  • Tries too much at the same time

    By HolyDuck (Pcmac user)

Oh, how I wanted to love this app. I tried it - and discarded it - several times this summer, and recently got back on the wagon because I couldn't find a better alternative for my needs. Basically I want a sort of research hub for both pdfs, bookmark/articles and a few notes, with the ability to highlight and share them, etc. this app is probably a good tool for a lot of people (it certainly has good ratings) but for me it simply tries - and fails - to be everything at once. And I like that concept and wanted it to work, but it doesn't. Many great features, but not quite the ones I really want. I even got a yearly subscription for both iOS and macOS to force myself to using this app. But today I had to give up. Instapaper is a better read-it-later + highlighting tool. Mac/iOS Markup is better for annotating pdfs. Bear is better for taking notes. Etc. So, while I wait for that perfect tool it's back to using a handful of apps to solve each task... I'm sorry, and I wish the developer the best of luck - and of course I may change my mind. I still have about 11 months of subscription left...
  • Great information keeper

    By ManWithClue (Pcmac user)

KeepIt is a fine piece of software for maintaining information. I’ve used a number of other products over the years, and most recently abandoned Evernote as I was looking for clearer export ability and more control over my own information and where and how it is kept. The software was superb when I started using it a few months ago and has gotten better since. The developer clearly is concerned with moving the product line forward.
