Pros:

- Saves time by allowing users to send missions for their champions on the go

- Useful for sending out follower missions without having to move a character to a table

- Can create fresh troops, gear followers, do research upgrades, see available WQs and any active assault, and track progress on warfronts

- Has the potential to be more than just a follower mission app

Cons:

- No option for using the 18 hour cool-down order hall talent to instantly complete a quest

- Switching between characters is a hassle and requires returning to the character list and waiting for it to connect

- Lacks the ability to use the Auction House

- XP bars for companions are not visible, making it difficult to plan which ones to send on missions

- No timers for how long a mission will be available before it changes

- Bugged in several ways, including the emissary list always displaying the previous set and the app frequently disconnecting and reloading data

- Login issues, and users cannot be logged into the app and the game simultaneously.

  • Essentially Useful Yet Issues Remain

    By adeption01 (Pcmac user)

After finding out this app, a lot of time has been saved and I can send missions for my champs on the go. Undoubtedly helpful. However, several programming issues I’ll mention. First off, there isn’t an option for using the 18 hour cool-down order hall talent to instantly complete a quest, only for ordering it. Next, switching between chars is a huge pain, having to return to character list and wait for it to connect, char after char.... A character drop down for all, not just some, characters should be available or there should be a back button with minimal to no load time. Next, I noticed that if my character is in an invasion point or in between ‘worlds’, I am immediately disconnected from the server when I try to access him from the app. Lastly, if we are already logged in on our computer, we cannot gain access on the app from our phone. This app should allow for us to force log out of our computer from our mobile device. This is a feature that even most basic programs have. While everything I’ve said will probably not be fixed or changed, especially with the new xpac coming soon, I irregardless share my ubiquitously-shared criticism in the infinitesimal hope that whoever programs this app have some basic integrity.
  • Missing something

    By Cmarrs619 (Pcmac user)

I like this app very much, however the the app apps are lacking something they used to have: Auction House. Currently the only thing related to the AH I can find is a Notifier which is Just That, a Notification System. I want back the ability to use the AH when at work or out in town, whatever the case may be, whether it is baked back into the AH Notification App, or it is added to this one. Also, not sure if others are able to see it, but I am not able to see XP bars for my companions, maybe it’s a bug I’m experiencing, maybe there isn’t xp info. Either way it would be helpful to see this to plan which guys to send on missions, see if it is worth it to level one up through some quick missions before sending it on a more important one where all the % I can get on it helps. Would also like timers of sorts on how long a mission will be around before it changes. I was trying to level a couple companions before doing a 400 rep Champions of Azeroth mission so I could have 200% chance on it or as high as possible instead of 140%, but the Morning After the mission popped up, it changed from 400 rep to 100 rep and there was absolutely 0 indication this would happen.
  • Potential Unrealized

    By Selzhanik (Pcmac user)

So much potential for a companion app, but too little execution makes it an underwhelming experience. Login issues galore — with the content patch today, I am unable to login with the companion app. It simply immediately disconnects upon choosing a character. Even at its best, it would be nice to be able to use the app at the same time as playing the game, to remotely send followers on missions. But you may only be logged into to the app or the game, not both. Most importantly, there is so much unrealized potential for the app to be more than just follower missions. We could read about lore, watch cinematics, maybe even “make Loh go” (or any of the Tortolan WQs actually), utilize the mailbox and/or auction house, or travel on a flight path?
  • Useful but also misleading

    By Tejas Geek (Pcmac user)

As of 8.2, the app is useful for: sending out follower mission w/o moving a toon to a table, create fresh troops, gearing followers, doing research upgrades, seeing available WQs and any active assault, progress on warfronts. It is bugged in several ways, the biggest being available emissaries. The list displayed for a character is ALWAYS the still-available ones from the PREVIOUS view of a character; to see the correct current set, one must view a character twice. The list of characters refreshes while one scrolls down, returning to the top; there is no good reason to refresh the list. The app re-connects and reloads data if you switch away and back, or the screen has locked; depending on timing, this often fails but leaves an abandoned login, forcing you to restart the app. The pretty character image doesn’t have a way to show text for gear, one must drill into each item for details. No overall character data, such as iLevel or stats. Being able to see reputation progress would be REALLY USEFUL to decide what missions to do, but is missing as well.
