How to download and install Google Allo on your Laptop or Desktop computer

4.5 Rating: 4.5 - 6,997 votes

If you want to install and use the Google Allo app on your PC or Mac, you will need to download and install a Desktop App emulator for your computer. We have worked diligently to help you understand how to use Google Allo for your computer in 4 simple steps below:

Step 1: Download an Android emulator for PC and Mac

Ok. First things first. If you want to use the application on your computer, first visit the Mac store or Windows AppStore and search for either the Bluestacks app or the Nox App . Most of the tutorials on the web recommends the Bluestacks app and I might be tempted to recommend it too, because you are more likely to easily find solutions online if you have trouble using the Bluestacks application on your computer. You can download the Bluestacks Pc or Mac software here

Step 2: Install the emulator on your PC or Mac

Now that you have downloaded the emulator of your choice, go to the Downloads folder on your computer to locate the emulator or Bluestacks application.
Once you have found it, click it to install the application or exe on your PC or Mac computer.
Now click Next to accept the license agreement.
Follow the on screen directives in order to install the application properly.
If you do the above correctly, the Emulator app will be successfully installed.

Step 3: Google Allo for PC - Windows 7/8 / 8.1 / 10

Now, open the Emulator application you have installed and look for its search bar. Once you found it, type Google Allo in the search bar and press Search. Click on Google Allo application icon. A window of Google Allo on the Play Store or the app store will open and it will display the Store in your emulator application. Now, press the Install button and like on an iPhone or Android device, your application will start downloading. Now we are all done.
You will see an icon called "All Apps".
Click on it and it will take you to a page containing all your installed applications.
You should see the Google Allo icon. Click on it and start using the application.

Step 4: Google Allo for Mac OS

Hi. Mac user!
The steps to use Google Allo for Mac are exactly like the ones for Windows OS above. All you need to do is install the Nox Application Emulator or Bluestack on your Macintosh. The links are provided in step one

  • Can’t @ anyone?

Back when I was on Android, I used to love allo. With each update, google had more to offer with allo, however the IOS version of allo always feels left behind. My buddies on Android are able to @people where as I cannot. I cannot fathom what would be causing the issue or lack of update from googles end. Is there lack of support because it’s IOS or what.
  • Fun

I like this app however I’m still learning it. It’s a little challenging I would say not really user friendly. I can’t figure out how to play games with people in your chat. Also don’t get why some conversations you can love and others you can’t a bit confusing?! Overall it’s fun and the memes are hilarious 👍🏼

I use this app only with one person because he likes it a lot. Unfortunately it doesn’t work so well on my iPhone. The quick gif picture feature is a neat and worked before. However any gif I create now will only show up as a still image. He has a Google Pixel phone too. & the messages take forever to send sometimes. Delays on WiFi and on LTE. I wouldn’t use this chat app if it weren’t for my friend. If all the features worked well then I would of given 5 stars.

make it iPad compatible and I’ll give it a 5
  • Crashes a lot, cannot send text with photos.

When I take a photo and click share, and select Allo, it just crashes and goes right back to the instant before I selected it. Before, when it did work, I could send a photo with text. Then it got to the point where if I tried to send multiple photos, it would just close and not do anything. Now it just crashes immediately. If I open the app and send a photo directly, I can send the photo and text, but only separately. It looks like it should be able to do it, but it doesn’t. Another annoying thing, when you start typing, it often (not always) starts with a lowercase letter. If you’re not paying attention, you’ll have to go back and correct it. (Yes, I’m a grammar Nazi.)
  • Sound issue

    By marygg1102
I've used Google messaging apps for years. I like Allo and how fun it is. My only gripe, really, and the only thing preventing me from giving it five stars - is that it breaks through do not disturb. My phone is on do not disturb like 70% of the time, and the notification sound (not the banner) always breaks through. I turned off notification sounds in general for the app, but now I won't be able to rely on sound notification for it if I have my phone volume on.

It’s cool for what it is along with duo if you want to “FaceTime and or “IMessage with an android user. Not nearly as safe, private or good as the real deal though.
